Trigger point dry needling is a procedure performed by physical therapists where an acupuncture needle which is inserted into a trigger point, or muscular knot, in order to reduce muscular pain, increase range of motion, and decrease muscle tone. This can be paired with electrical stimulation to further enhance the benefits of dry needling.
No, you do not need a referral to see a physical therapist for an initial evaluation. However, in the state of Texas, a referral is needed within 10 days of an initial evaluation in order to continue to participate in your plan of care.
